Two Big Middle Quarters Lift No. 2 AU Women To Win At Davenport

On Saturday (Dec. 30) afternoon in Michigan, the No. 2-ranked Ashland University women's basketball team topped Davenport, 99-75, thanks to outscoring the Panthers by a combined 59-35 in the second and third quarters.
 
The Eagles improve to 10-1 before returning to Great Midwest Athletic Conference action, while Davenport is 2-9.
 
Ashland's win on Saturday was their 31st in a row on the road, a program record, and one road victory shy of tying the NCAA Division II women's basketball record of 32 set by Saint Rose from Nov. 30, 1996-Feb. 20, 1999.
 
The Eagles, who also have won 35 straight road/neutral-site games, improves to 10-0 all-time against Davenport.
 
Fourteen Ashland players scored on Saturday afternoon, and four had 10 or more points:
  • Junior forward Zoe Miller led the way with 19 points in 19 minutes off the Eagle bench, and was 8-of-10 from the field.
  • Senior guard Savaya Brockington added 17 points, six assists and two steals.
  • Fifth-year forward Annie Roshak's 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field moved her into fourth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 2,022 career points.
  • Freshman guard Lexi Howe came off the bench to add 10 points and three assists.
Junior point guard Morgan Yoder had eight of the Eagles' 32 assists on 40 made baskets – the team's most helpers in a game this season and five away from the school record of 37.
 
POST-GAME NUGGETS
  • The Eagles made 61.5 percent from the field in the victory (third-best in a game in 2023-24), and 74.2 percent in the middle two stanzas.
  • Davenport turned the ball over 18 times, resulting in 32 Eagle points.
  • Ashland improves to 54-3 (.947) all-time as the No. 2-ranked team in the country, and 306-19 (.942) all-time as a ranked team in NCAA Division II.
