On Saturday (Nov. 11) afternoon in Midland, Mich., the No. 2-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team lost in its bid to three-peat as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament champions, falling 4-2 in penalty kicks after playing 110 scoreless minutes against Northwood.
Â
The Eagles will enter the 2023 NCAA Division II postseason at 17-0-4, while the Timberwolves are 16-3-2.
Â
Regulation did not solve anything on Saturday afternoon, and the Eagles and Timberwolves went into overtime scoreless – and after Northwood survived a 90
th minute AU penalty kick. Twenty more minutes over two extra periods didn't result in a goal, either – so it was on to penalty kicks.

- During regulation and overtime, Ashland out-shot Northwood, 16-11, while the Timberwolves doubled up the Eagles on corner kicks, 6-3.
- This is the second time Ashland will go into the NCAA playoffs without a loss (2001).
