Ashland University's volleyball team inched closer to an outright Great Midwest Athletic Conference South Division championship for the third consecutive season, as, on Saturday (Oct. 28) night, the Eagles topped Ohio Dominican, 3-1 (25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 26-24) at the Sherrill Hudson Court at Kates Gymnasium.

The Eagles improve to 19-7 overall and 12-2 in the Great Midwest, and are 4½ matches ahead of second-place Trevecca Nazarene with five league matches to play. The Panthers are 10-12, 6-7.

Ashland's win on Saturday was the program's 998
th all-time.

- Senior libero Katie Thompson recorded 26 digs on Saturday night, and with 1,769 for her career, needs just 13 more to pass Arian Martin (1,781) for second place on AU's all-time list.
- Junior outside hitter Makenna Belcher picked up another double-double (11 kills, 10 digs), while sophomore outside hitter Tristen Gierhart added 11 kills and a .273 hitting percentage.
- Breaking up the setting duties once again were junior Georgi Moody (20 assists) and freshman Kylee Urban (14 assists), and Thompson added four service aces.
- Saturday's match had 18 tie scores and 10 lead changes.
