On Saturday (Oct. 28) night at Ferguson Field, Ashland University's men's soccer team lost to Findlay, 2-1, in the next-to-last regular-season game in 2023.
The Eagles fall to 6-8-3 overall and 6-4-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Oilers improve to 7-5-4, 5-5-3.
Going into the final regular-season game, Ashland is in third place in the league with 21 points, followed by Thomas More in fourth place with 20, Cedarville in fifth with 19, and Walsh and Findlay tied for sixth with 18.
NOTABLES
- In the 11th minute, Jesse Levine got the Oilers on the board with an unassisted goal, then Solomon Cooper scored an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute to make it a 2-0 game.
- Ashland broke into the score column in the 66th minute when senior midfielder Vander Rocha scored his team-high ninth goal of the season right in front of the Oiler goal. The assist went to junior midfielder Pedro Faria, his first of 2023.
- Ashland out-shot Findlay by a 14-10 count, and had six of the game's seven corner kicks.
- Junior goalkeeper Ty Bowden made two saves on Saturday night.
