Late Tiffin Run Sends Ashland Men To Road Loss

Trailing 52-47 inside of eight minutes left in the game, Tiffin's 17-7 run to end the game sent Ashland University's men's basketball team to a 64-59 road loss on Saturday (Jan. 21) afternoon.
 
The Eagles fall to 12-6 overall and 8-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while the Dragons are 8-9, 6-5.
 
THE WRAP-UP
  • Tiffin jumped out to an 18-6 lead, then Ashland went on a 12-2 run to cut its deficit to two points. The Dragons worked their advantage back to double digits at 33-23, but the Eagles took their largest lead at 45-37 early in the second half.
  • Junior center Victor Searls was the game's leading scorer at 19 points, while freshman point guard Simon Wheeler added 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Senior guard Brandon Haraway's 14 points give him 1,335 in his career, good now for 16th place on AU's all-time scoring list.
  • Ashland shot 42 percent from the field, and kept Tiffin to 40.8 percent.
