To conclude the four-match trip to Minnesota to start the new season, Ashland University's volleyball team, receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll, lost on Saturday (Aug. 27) to No. RV Minnesota Duluth, 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-21) and No. 9 St. Cloud State, 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 22-25, 25-17).

Ashland is 1-3 after the opening weekend, and both Duluth and St. Cloud are 4-0.

WHAT HAPPENED
- In the loss to Duluth, senior middle blocker Anna Krikke led the way with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage. Fifth-year senior setter Zoey Peck had 18 assists, while junior libero Katie Thompson ended with 13 digs.
- Against St. Cloud, sophomore outside hitter Makenna Belcher filled the stat sheet with 13 kills and four service aces, Peck added 27 assists, and four Eagles racked up double-digit digs – Thompson (20), fifth-year outside hitter Erin Krupar (18), Peck (16) and senior defensive specialist Stephanie Smith (13).
- Thompson was named to the St. Cloud State/Concordia-St. Paul All-Tournament Team, having recorded 66 digs in four matches.
