On Tuesday (July 19), former Ashland University head track and field coach
Jud Logan would have been 63 years old. Months prior to his passing in January, Logan texted
Trevor Bassitt, telling Bassitt he would be in the final of the 2022 World Athletics Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore., and that it was Bassitt's destiny.

Fast-forward to Tuesday night, and Bassitt in fact was in the finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles at outdoor worlds. And Bassitt's destiny was to finish in third place in a personal-best time of 47.39 seconds.

Bassitt was joined in turning in medal performances on Tuesday night by winner Alison Dos Santos of Brazil (46.29 seconds, championships record) and Bassitt's Team USA teammate, Rai Benjamin, who was the silver medalist (46.89 seconds).

It has been a busy and award-filled 2022 for Bassitt, who has earned the following so far this year:
