WHAT HAPPENED
- Hillsdale scored three runs in the top of the second inning to start Game 1, then added two more in the third for a 5-0 advantage. The Chargers scored three more runs in the fourth, then junior designated player Hailey Struckman launched a solo home run to begin the bottom of the fourth.
- The Chargers achieved the final margin of victory in the top of the fifth, when Hillsdale brought two runs home.
- Ashland broke the scoreless tie in Game 2, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. Struckman walked with the bases loaded, then junior left fielder Lauren McMillin added an RBI groundout.
- Hillsdale tied the game at 2 with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth, then took the lead at 3-2 with a run in the top of the sixth – and that run was the eventual game-winning tally.
- Senior Hannah Fricke (1-4) took the tough-luck loss, going the distance on a six-hitter. Fricke allowed three runs (one earned) and three walks and struck out three. In her last 14 1/3 innings, Fricke has allowed just two earned runs.
