To finish the four-game Great Midwest Athletic Conference series in Hillsdale, Mich., on Monday (March 21) afternoon, Ashland University's baseball team lost 6-1 and 12-8 decisions to the Chargers.

The Eagles are 9-7 overall and 2-2 in the Great Midwest, while Hillsdale is 10-12, 4-4.

WHAT HAPPENED
- In Game 1, the Chargers put up crooked numbers in the bottom of the first and fifth innings en route to the victory.
- Senior first baseman Micah Allen and freshman first baseman Ian Sanders each went 2-for-4 in the opener. Senior right-hander Josh Stover (0-1) took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits, six runs (three earned) and two walks and striking out four in five innings.
- In the nightcap, the Eagles scored two in the top of the first to take the early lead, then two more in the third to go up 4-2, but the Chargers responded with two in the third, three in the fifth, two in the sixth, one in the seventh and two in the eighth.
- Sanders was 1-for-4 with three RBIs, Allen went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, and senior shortstop Austin Eifrid was 2-for-3 and crossed the plate twice.
- Junior righty Josh Meyer (1-2) yielded eight hits, seven runs (six earned) and a walk and whiffed five in 4 2/3 innings.
