AU Softball Tops Clarion, Loses To Seton Hill

On Friday (March 11) in Florida, Ashland University's softball team split its two games, winning 9-6 against Clarion and losing 11-3 in five innings against Seton Hill.
 
WHAT HAPPENED

• The Eagles (5-6) got the extra-base-hit bats out against Clarion, picking up three home runs and a double amongst their 11 total hits. Sophomore catcher Jordyn Severns was 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and two RBIs; senior third baseman Alexis Lavdis was 2-for-3 with a homer, a run scored and two RBIs; and freshman shortstop Maddy Burdette added a round-tripper and two RBIs.
• Junior pitcher Josie Duncan earned the victory, yielding 11 hits, six runs and three walks and striking out three in seven innings.
• Ashland scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning, then, after Clarion scored five in the top of the fourth, added three more in the bottom of the fourth.
• The game against Seton Hill saw Burdette go 2-for-2, and junior designated player Hailey Struckman hit a two-run home run.
• Senior pitcher Hannah Fricke took the loss, allowing 11 hits, 11 runs and five walks and striking out two in four-plus innings.
