Even with 14 first-half 3-point field goals and a 21-point lead late in the third quarter, Ashland University's women's basketball team needed to hold off Truman State at the end and won, 96-88, on Tuesday (Nov. 22) afternoon on the first day of Drury's Oasis Hotel & Convention Center Thanksgiving Classic.

The Eagles, now ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II (see below), are 5-0, while the Bulldogs are 2-3 following the first matchup between the two programs.

THE WRAP-UP
- An early-season high in points was paced by four Eagles in double-figures – senior forward Annie Roshak (21), junior guard Savaya Brockington (16), and sophomore forwards Zoe Miller and Hayley Smith (14 each). Roshak moved into 10th place on Ashland's all-time points list with 1,415.
- The Eagles fell one trey short of the program record of 18, but still were 17-for-34 from downtown, 53.1 percent from the field and 11-of-13 from the free-throw line.
- Ashland head coach Kari Pickens has won 110 of her first 125 games (.880) guiding the Eagles.

Ashland will take on host Drury, No. 7 in the country, on Wednesday (Nov. 23) at 6:30 p.m. East/5:30 p.m. local. Drury was 3-0 prior to its game on Tuesday against Cedarville.

The first 2022-23 regular-season Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll was revealed on Tuesday (Nov. 22) afternoon, and Ashland has climbed up two spots to No. 3.
