On Saturday (Nov. 12) at Malone, Ashland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams each won their third duals in a row.
The Eagle women won, 186-43, while the AU men took a 198-54 decision.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Senior Abby Locke won three individual events on Saturday – the women's 100 breaststroke (1:09.50), women's 200 backstroke (2:16.31), and women's 400 individual medley (4:45.08).
- Eagles turning in two individual victories each were senior Veronica Eckroth in women's 1-meter (220.35 points) and 3-meter diving (207.15 points), freshman Joey Lenczyk in men's 1-meter (255.35 points) and 3-meter diving (234.10), freshman Cole Huebner in the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:50.89) and men's 100 free (49.64 seconds), senior Joe Cummins in the men's 100 back (55.87 seconds) and men's 50 free (23.06 seconds), junior Sydney Porinchok in the women's 100 free (56.73 seconds) and women's 100 butterfly (1:03.02), freshman Jason Basile in the men's 1,000 free (10:13.37) and men's 500 free (4:59.73), senior Amar Sapcanin in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:18.34) and men's 400 IM (4:12.61), and junior Josh Hagan in the men's 200 fly (2:00.15) and 100 fly (54.52 seconds).
- Ashland swimmers earning one individual victory each were freshman Nick Girz in the men's 100 breaststroke (1:02.11), freshman Paige Nicholson in the women's 200 free (2:08.17), freshman Holly Kraemer in the women's 200 fly (2:33.40), senior Kaci Agre in the women's 50 free (27.41 seconds), and senior Makayla Tarkenton in the women's 200 breaststroke (2:34.75).
- Relay wins for AU were earned by the women's 200 medley group of Nicholson, Locke, freshman Megan Tomasic and Porinchok (1:56.87), the men's 200 medley relay of Cummins, Sapcanin, freshman Nick Olquin and Girz (1:39.54), the women's 200 free quartet of Tomasic, Nicholson, Porinchok and junior Emma Okuma (1:49.70), and the men's 200 free grouping of Huebner, Girz, Olquin and Cummins (1:28.15).
- Second-place individual showings were turned in by Olquin in the men's 200 fly (2:03.95) and 100 fly (56.18 seconds), sophomore Weston Brown in the men's 1,000 free (11:00.80) and 500 free (5:16.41), Sapcanin in the men's 100 breaststroke (1:02.66), freshman Ayden Mason in the men's 200 breaststroke (2:23.56), Hagan in the men's 400 IM (4:27.27), Tarkenton in the women's 100 breaststroke (1:11.51), Tomasic in the women's 1,000 free (11:52.56), freshman Ryan Mohler in the men's 200 back (2:07.71), Kraemer in the women's 500 free (5:55.83), Girz in the men's 100 free (51.91 seconds), freshman Mary Kate Prall in the women's 200 back (2:22.38), senior Sydney Laughlin in the women's 100 fly (1:03.07), junior Holly Flanegin in women's 3-meter diving (148.15 points), and senior Mikaela Vojacek in the women's 100 back (1:08.90).
- Relays taking second for Ashland were the women's 200 medley of Prall, Tarkenton, Kraemer and Okuma (2:01.23), and the men's 200 medley of Mohler, Mason, freshman Dewey Black and Huebner (1:44.62).
