The No. 21-ranked Ashland University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Northwood on Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon at Ferguson Field.

Ashland takes sole possession of first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings at 11-3-1 overall and 9-1-1 in the league, pending the outcome of Saturday's Cedarville at Tiffin game. The Timberwolves are 8-3-4, 7-1-3.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Sophomore defender Julianna Williams scored a world-class goal in the 10th minute, bending a left foot from 25-30 yards for the game's first tally. Williams' first goal of 2022 was assisted off a corner kick by both sophomore midfielder Merrik Mihalek (fourth of the season) and sophomore forward McKinley Mendenhall (10th of 2022).
- In the 87th minute, following an Eagle foul in the box, Julianna Paoletti scored the tying goal on a penalty kick.

THE WRAP-UP
- Ashland out-shot Northwood, 17-5, and took all eight corner kicks on Saturday.
- Senior goalkeeper Bri Rogers made two saves in the draw.
