Accomplishing something that hadn't been done in nine years, Ashland University's volleyball team earned its 11
th consecutive victory by topping Northwood on the road on Saturday (Oct. 1) afternoon, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-16).
The Eagles, receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll and leading the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's South Division, improve to 14-5 overall and 9-0 in the Great Midwest after the 11
th win in a row – the program's longest such streak since 2013.
Northwood is 10-7, 5-3.
The Eagles have won seven of the last eight outings against Northwood.
THE WRAP-UP
- A balanced AU offense hit .240 collectively, and was led by fifth-year setter Zoey Peck's 25 assists. Defensively, freshman middle blocker Abby Stanford had five block assists (half of AU's 10), and junior libero Katie Thompson (11 digs) and sophomore outside hitter Makenna Belcher (10) each had double-digit digs.
- That defensive showing led the Eagles to keep Northwood to a hitting percentage of .070 – the fourth-lowest percentage AU has allowed this season.
