Eagle Men, Women Host First Full Day Of Ashland Invitational

Ashland University's men's and women's tennis teams played host to the first full day of the Ashland Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 11) at the Deborah Liebert Karl Tennis Complex and Brookside Park.
 
WHAT HAPPENED
  • On Saturday vs. Lawrence Tech, the Eagle men won a 5-1 decision in the all-singles match. Ashland decisions were earned by senior Stuart Brdicka at No. 1 (6-4, 6-1), senior Jordan Phelps at No. 2 (6-7, 6-4, 10-6), freshman Fabian Bussard at No. 4 (7-5, 2-6, 10-6), senior Tche Kun Teng at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3), and junior Jacob Hoffman at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3).
  • Saturday's men's match against The College of Wooster had a winner in Bussard at No. 3 singles (5-7, 6-4, 10-8).
  • The AU women's lone match on Saturday against Saginaw Valley State saw senior Gabriella Hudec take a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 1 singles.
  • On Friday night in women's singles matches vs. West Virginia State, freshman Claudia Adcock earned her first collegiate victory, 6-4, 6-4.
