Ashland University's volleyball team earned its first win of the new fall season on Friday (Sept. 10) morning, on Day 1 of the Indianapolis Invitational.

The Eagles topped No. RV Northern Michigan, 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-21), prior to a 3-0 loss later on Friday to No. 14 Winona State, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-18).

WHAT HAPPENED VS. NORTHERN MICHIGAN
- The Eagles' first 2021 fall victory came as a result of a young season-best .200 hitting percentage, and a young season-best defensive hitting percentage of .149.
- Senior outside hitter Erin Krupar recorded a double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs, while a pair of freshmen – middle blocker Madison McCloskey and right-side hitter GraceAnn Hartman – each had seven kills and hit .313 and .455, respectively.
- Zoey Peck, senior setter, set up 30 kills in the victory, while junior defensive specialist Stephanie Smith had a team-high 13 digs. Junior middle blocker Anna Krikke led a 19-block assist team showing with five.

WHAT HAPPENED VS. WINONA STATE
- Krupar finished the match with a team-high 10 kills, Peck had 25 assists, freshman defensive specialist Lauren Welch collected a team-high 10 digs, and McCloskey ended with five block assists.
