SANDUSKY, Ohio – As the 2021 regular season is coming to a close, Ashland University's softball team lost a pair of "home" games on Friday (May 7), falling 7-0 and 6-2 to Purdue Northwest at Sports Force Parks.
The Eagles are 13-27 overall and 10-20 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the Pride are 13-23, 10-15.
Purdue Northwest got on the board in the top of the first inning with two runs, then the Pride added two more tallies in the top of the third to extend their lead to 4-0.
Three runs in the top of the sixth gave PNW the final margin of victory, as the Eagles managed just four hits in the defeat.

Kayla Ruperto (5-6) allowed 10 hits, seven runs (six earned) and a walk and struck out two in the complete game.
The Pride began Game 2 in much the same way, scoring three times in the top of the first. Purdue Northwest made it a 4-0 lead with a single run in the top of the third, then the Eagles scored their first runs of the day in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI groundout from freshman pitcher
Jillian Middleton and an RBI single by freshman designated player
Hailey Krinn.
Purdue Northwest added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Middleton (4-12) yielded 11 hits, six runs and no walks and whiffed four in the complete-game defeat. The Eagles had just three hits on offense.
Ashland will conclude the 2021 regular season with a home doubleheader against Northwood on Saturday (May 8) at 1 p.m. at Brookside Park.
