Softball Loses Two At No. 15-Ranked Lakers

Playing at No. 15-ranked Grand Valley State on Monday (April 5), Ashland University's softball team lost 3-1 and 4-0 decisions.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference defeats leave the Eagles at 2-10 overall and 0-4 in the league, while the Lakers are 18-4, 9-1.

In Game 1, freshman designated player Hailey Krinn had both of AU's hits, going 2-for-3, and drove in the team's only run on an RBI single in the top of the seventh. Freshman Jillian Middleton (0-5) went six innings, allowing 10 hits, three runs and four walks, and striking out two.

The nightcap saw Ashland also have just two singles – one each from senior right fielder Alli Hylton and junior center fielder Jamie Rutherford. Sophomore Kayla Ruperto (1-3) yielded eight hits, four runs (two earned) and three walks, and struck out one, in six innings.

Ashland will return to Brookside Park for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday (April 6) at 3 p.m. vs. Tiffin (9-11).
