Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles, Panthers Play To Scoreless Draw In Michigan

The Ashland University women's soccer team played host Davenport to a scoreless draw on Sunday (April 18) in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The Eagles (6-1-1) had the majority of chances in the game, but just were not able to provide the finishing touch in front of goal.

Ashland held a 19-9 edge in shots and led in shots on target, 12-3, but Davenport keeper Samantha Beckles was up to the task, stopping all of them.

The Eagles put four shots on target in the overtime periods, but all of the Panthers' attempts on target came in the first 45 minutes. Senior Hannah Lee and the defense kept the clean sheet.

Davenport (2-5-1) had a chance on the last kick of the game with Madeleine Zayan breaking free after an Ashland free kick was cleared, but Lee came off her line and forced Zayan to adjust her shot just enough to push it a foot wide.

One of the Eagles' best chances of the game came in the 59th minute with senior Nadya Boualany striking the crossbar, and just moments later, senior Emily Mark had her strike saved by Beckels.

Junior Brianna Fourman led the Eagles in shots with four.

The Eagles will now return to Ferguson Field to conclude the regular season on Thursday (April 22). Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. against Saginaw Valley.
