The Ashland University volleyball team lost a GLIAC Tournament consolation match to Northwood, 25-23, 27-25, 25-22, on Saturday (April 10) afternoon in University Center, Mich.
The Eagles (9-8) will now play in the AVCA National Championships tournament next week, an invitational event hosted by the volleyball coaches' association in Dallas.
On Saturday, the Eagles played a tight match statistically against the Timberwolves, but could not get over the hump in any of the three sets. The Timberwolves out-hit the Eagles, .216 to .189, overall. Northwood led in kills, 49-41, and in blocks, 11-6.
Junior
Erin Krupar led the Eagles with 12 kills (.250) while senior
Brooke Peiffer had nine kills (.114), senior
Courtney Rosebrook had eight (.238) and senior
Lexi Lombardo had seven (.294).
Junior setter
Zoey Peck had a double-double with 35 assists and 13 digs and freshman libero
Katie Thompson led the back row with 15 digs.
Mary Gallagher led the Timberwolves with 14 kills (.423) and seven blocks.
