Game Recap: Baseball |

Ashland Falls To Charleston on Saturday

The Ashland University baseball team was not able to get its offense on track and Charleston (W.Va.) scored in each of the last five innings to beat the Eagles, 10-3, on Saturday (March 13) afternoon in West Virginia.

The teams will play a rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday at noon.

The game was scoreless through three innings as junior Jacob Harsany walked a pair, but otherwise did not allow a baserunner against the Golden Eagles.

Charleston finally got to him for a run in the fourth as Colby was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and scored on a Tyler Dellerman sac fly.

Freshman Adam Schomburg came on later in the inning and kept the game at 1-0.

Freshman Justin Dyksma tied the game in the fourth inning with a solo home run – his second of the season.

The Golden Eagles quickly regained the lead on Jordan Bailey's RBI double. The Golden Eagles blew the game open with four runs in the sixth to take a 6-1 lead.

Ashland answered with two runs in the seventh that included a sac fly by senior Garett Robberts.

Charleston put the game away three more runs in the seventh to take a 9-3 lead.

Schomburg was saddled with the loss while UC starter Logan Campbell earned the win, giving up three runs on three hits with six walks and nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Harsany gave up just one run and did not allow a hit in his 3 2/3 innings of work.

The Eagles managed just three hits on the afternoon with juniors Mike Flemming and Alex Whipple joining Dyksma in the hit column. Juniors Austin Eifrid and Logan Moss each drew a pair of walks.
