The Ashland University volleyball team dispatched host Parkside, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21, in the Eagles' third straight sweep and fourth straight GLIAC win Saturday (Feb. 27) night in Kenosha, Wis.
The Eagles (4-0 GLIAC) hit .236 on the night and held the Rangers (0-4 GLIAC) to a .159 mark on their way to the win.
Senior
Brooke Peiffer racked up a season-high 18 kills (.368) as the lone AU player in double figures while junior
Zoey Peck had a double-double with 38 assists and a team-high 11 digs.
In Set 1, the Eagles scored seven straight points to turn their 6-5 lead into a 13-5 advantage. Peiffer had three kills in that stretch and junior
Heidi Fausze had two. Senior
Courtney Rosebrook put the set away with a kill.
The second set was tight much of the way until Ashland went on a 4-0 run to take an 18-15 lead with Rosebrook capping the run with a kill. Parkside still got it back to within one point on three separate occasions, but a block by senior
Lexi Lombardo and junior
Erin Krupar and kills by Lombardo and Peiffer ended the frame.
The third set was much the same as Parkside stayed within arm's reach at 22-21 before the Eagles closed the match with three straight points.
Krupar (.192) had nine kills and Rosebrook (.600) added seven on just 10 swings.
Reese Rossnagel had 15 kills and hit .560 to lead the Rangers.
The Eagles will play two more road matches next week as they head to Ferris State to take on the Bulldogs in a two-match set beginning Friday at 5 p.m.
