To say that Ashland University's men's indoor track and field team has some good sprinters would be a massive understatement.
It was proven once again on Friday (Feb. 1) at the Kentucky Rod McCravy Memorial meet, as senior Myles Pringle became the sixth Eagle men's sprinter to earn a nationals provisional time in the 200-meter dash this winter. His time of 21.56 seconds was good for ninth place in the NCAA Division I-laden event, and he joins sophomore Trevor Bassitt (21.35 seconds), sophomore Channing Phillips (21.59 seconds), freshman Keshun Jones (21.62 seconds), sophomore Kainnan Ramsey (21.64 seconds) and freshman Tim Rumas (21.67 seconds) as AU men who have turned in provisional times in the event for 2019 NCAA Division II indoor nationals, March 8-9 at Pittsburg State (Kan.).
Friday at the 15th Annual Akron Invitational, freshman Ethan Tabor won the men's long jump Blue division at 6.66 meters/21-feet-10¼, while junior Amber Otermat was third in the women's pole vault Blue division at 3.52 meters/11-feet-6½.
On Thursday at Akron, Ashland's throwers competed in the discus throw Gold division. On the men's side, junior Alex Hill finished second at 53.60 meters/175-feet-10, while senior Jim Toth was third at 49.47 meters/162-feet-3. On the women's side, redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker took third at 46.14 meters/151-feet-4.
