No. 13 AU Women Stay Unbeaten With Win At Indy

Box Score

Hours after moving up two spots to No. 13 in the USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll, Ashland University stayed undefeated at 4-0 following a 74-57 win at Indianapolis (0-6) on Tuesday (Nov. 24) night.

The Greyhounds had an early 15-11 lead, but the Eagles finished the first quarter on an 11-3 run and didn't look back.

Sophomore forward Andi Daugherty, the reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week, made a good case for a repeat against the Greyhounds. Daugherty scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and the 10th of her career.

Daugherty hit 10-of-15 shots from the floor and all four free-throw attempts.

Junior forward Suzy Wollenhaupt came off the bench to score 14 points in just 14 minutes on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

The Eagles, the early-season Division II pacesetter in team field-goal percentage at 55.7 prior to Tuesday night, shot 53.1 percent from the field against the Greyhounds. AU also hit 18-of-22 from the free-throw line for 81.8 percent, and boasted a 35-21 rebounding advantage.

Ashland has started a season 4-0 for the first time since 2012-13, and is 34-7 in its last 41 games against non-conference opponents.

The Eagles will begin GLIAC play on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at Grand Valley State.
