Box Score Hours after moving up two spots to No. 13 in the USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll, Ashland University stayed undefeated at 4-0 following a 74-57 win at Indianapolis (0-6) on Tuesday (Nov. 24) night.
The Greyhounds had an early 15-11 lead, but the Eagles finished the first quarter on an 11-3 run and didn't look back.
Sophomore forward Andi Daugherty, the reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week, made a good case for a repeat against the Greyhounds. Daugherty scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season and the 10th of her career.
Daugherty hit 10-of-15 shots from the floor and all four free-throw attempts.
Junior forward Suzy Wollenhaupt came off the bench to score 14 points in just 14 minutes on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.
The Eagles, the early-season Division II pacesetter in team field-goal percentage at 55.7 prior to Tuesday night, shot 53.1 percent from the field against the Greyhounds. AU also hit 18-of-22 from the free-throw line for 81.8 percent, and boasted a 35-21 rebounding advantage.
Ashland has started a season 4-0 for the first time since 2012-13, and is 34-7 in its last 41 games against non-conference opponents.
The Eagles will begin GLIAC play on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at Grand Valley State.
