Box Score Ashland University's volleyball team played in just its third five-set match of the 2015 season on Saturday (Oct. 3) at home against Northwood.
The Eagles also won their third five-set match of 2015 on Saturday, outlasting the Timberwolves, 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 26-28, 15-10) at Kates Gymnasium for their fifth consecutive victory.
Ashland, tied for first in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's South Division, improves to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Northwood is 5-10, 3-4.
Junior outside hitters Alli Cudworth and Casey Clark led the charge for the Eagles – Cudworth with a team-high 23 kills to go with 14 digs, and Clark with a team-best 22 digs along with 13 kills. Senior middle blocker Samantha Zuber had 11 kills, five digs, two solo blocks and three block assists.
Junior setter Mallory Slyder recorded 48 assists and 15 digs, and freshman libero Kaitlin Bean (15) and sophomore defensive specialist Melanie Aguayo (16) each added double-digit digs.
Ashland will end its five-match homestand next week with key GLIAC matches against Ferris State on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. and Grand Valley State on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m.
