Box Score The AU volleyball team won for the fifth straight time Saturday afternoon, beating Cedarville, 3-1. The victory came on the second day of the Quality Inn and Suites Invitational.
The Eagles are 3-0 in the tournament with one contest to go - a Saturday night date with Wheeling Jesuit. Ashland is 6-1 on the season.
Ashland downed the Yellow Jackets, 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-15.
The Eagles experienced little difficulty in grabbing a 2-0 lead. In the third set, the Yellow Jackets (2-7) roared out to a 19-9 lead. That advantage swelled to 24-16. AU scored seven consecutive points to get to within 24-23 before Cedarville got a point off of an AU attack error to secure the win.
Freshman Casey Clark had a team-high 19 kills for AU. She had six kills in the fourth set. Another freshman, Alli Cudworth, had 18 kills. Senior Kate Eckels had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Senior Marci Zegarac had 23 digs and redshirt freshman setter Shelly DeHenning had 47 assists.
Hannah Wagner, who has played well throughout this two-day event, led Cedarville with 13 kills. This was Cedarville's final match of the tourney. The Yellow Jackets went 0-4.
