Win At Findlay Gives Eagles GLIAC Home Date

Box Score

There was no backing into the GLIAC Tournament for the AU volleyball team. Instead, the Eagles will enter the postseason right on track.

Saturday night (Nov. 16) at Findlay, the Eagles won 3-0. Ashland has a nine-match winning streak and is 23-6 overall.

In GLIAC play, AU is 15-3. Grand Valley State has the best record in the conference. The Lakers are 17-1. Ashland, Ferris State and Northern Michigan are all 15-3. Those are the four teams who will host first round GLIAC Tournament games this Wednesday (Nov. 20, 7 p.m.).

The Eagles' opponent will be sorted out and confirmed by the conference office on Sunday. For now, it's good enough to know that whatever team draws the Eagles, they get a team that is playing at a high level.

The Eagles took care of the Oilers, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18. The 3-0 verdict gave AU a sweep of the season series. Findlay is 20-11 and 11-7 in the conference. The Oilers will also be heading to the conference tournament.

AU's Alli Cudworth had 12 kills to lead all players in the match. Marci Zegarac had 13 digs and four aces and Samantha Zuber had nine kills and five block assists.

Hannah Tong led the Oilers with 10 kills.

The four winners from Wednesday's matches will advance to the GLIAC semifinals. Those will be held next weekend on the home court of the highest remaining seed.
