Box Score North Canton, OH -- The Ashland University volleyball team advanced to 17-6 overall and 7-5 in conference play on Friday (Oct. 26) with a 3-0 win at Walsh.
AU made it a clean sweep over Walsh winning, 25-20, 25-12, 25-23. The Cavaliers are now 7-13 and 4-8 in the GLIAC.
Maureen Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Crystal Lake South) led the Eagle offense and match with 12 kills while Susie Jonas (Harrison, Ohio / Harrison) and Brittany Snider (Olmsted Falls, Ohio) added seven and six respectively. Snider tallied a match-high 18 digs and Crystal Elliott (Canal Winchester, Ohio / Canal Winchester) contributed 28 assists in the win.
Ashland hit .185 as a team and held the competition to -.009 in team hitting percentage. The Eagles served an impressive 10 aces in the match. Kate Eckels (Loveland, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) and Snider led with three aces each, Elliott and Marci Zegarac (Lansing, Ill. / South) added two apiece. As a team AU recorded eight block assists and two solo blocks on the evening.
Next up the Eagles take on Malone University for a 4:00 pm contest Saturday (Oct. 27).
