Denise Farnsworth

AT ASHLAND UNIVERSITY

  • Farnsworth is in her ninth year as the Head Cheer and Dance Coach at Ashland University, and also serves as AU's first head STUNT coach.
  • The Eagle STUNT team finished 2025 at 24-9 overall and 8-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, while winning an overtime game at Division II nationals for the second season in a row.
  • For that, Farnsworth was named 2025 Great Midwest Coach of the Year.
  • In 2024, Ashland STUNT won its second consecutive Great Midwest tournament title, as well as the program's first game at the national tournament. Farnsworth led the team to an 18-10 record overall and 9-1 mark in the league.
  • The Eagle STUNT team won the nation's first collegiate championship in 2023, the Great Midwest Championships on the AU campus. Ashland also qualified for NCAA Division II STUNT nationals for the first time in 2023.
  • Farnsworth was named 2023 Great Midwest Co-Coach of the Year.
  • In the Eagle STUNT team's first full season in 2022, the team went 9-3, including a 16-0 win over Ursuline in the team's first home game at Kates Gymnasium.
  • Farnsworth guided the first AU STUNT team in its initial game on April 17, 2021 - a 13-7 win at Tiffin.
BEFORE ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
  • Farnsworth spent two seasons dancing and cheering for Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew and was a varsity cheerleader at Tiffin University.
PERSONAL
  • Farnsworth currently holds memberships with USA Cheer, College STUNT Coaches Association, USASF and the NFHS, and is certified as a College STUNT Coach, College STUNT Official, USA Cheer Spirit Safety and USA High School Cheerleading Rules certified.
  • She has been coaching Cheer, Dance and Tumbling for more than 24 years, and has experience as a coach and choreographer in all levels from youth, middle school, high school and college.
  • Farnsworth currently is serving a two-year team as treasurer for the College STUNT Coaches Association.
  • In May of 2019, she was named the OASSA Cheer and Dance Competition Director for the 2019-2020 school year and now serves on the OASSA Cheer and Dance Judging panel. Farnsworth has more than 15 years of judging experience in both cheer and dance.
  • Farnsworth resides in Ashland with her husband, Rob, and two children, Miles and Stella. They all enjoy camping, traveling and, most importantly, baseball - when it is not cheer and dance season.
