AT ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
  • Cottom is in his first year as associate head coach for Ashland University's baseball team. He began his career with the Eagles as a graduate assistant in 2021-22, and spent the next three seasons as assistant coach.
  • In the spring of 2022, Cottom relinquished his role as grad assistant and was added to the active roster due to injuries at the catcher position. He hit .314 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 18 games.
BEFORE ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
  • A former catcher at Marietta, Cottom earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference second-team honors as a senior, hitting .365 with 37 runs scored, three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 24 RBIs. That season, he also made just one error in 268 total chances (.996 fielding percentage).
  • In his collegiate career, Cottom played in 132 games, posting 88 runs scored, 17 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 61 RBIs.
  • In the summer of 2019, Cottom was involved in the Houston Astros' Intro to Amateur Scouting Internship. In the summer 2020, he was an intern with the Five Star Carolina Vipers in Charlotte, N.C.

  • Cottom is a 2021 graduate of Marietta, majoring in Sports Management.
