Ashland Loses In Five Sets At Davenport

Ashland University volleyball went to five sets in a loss at Davenport in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday (Nov. 4) night.

The Eagles (14-12, 7-8 GLIAC) won the first set, 25-20, lost the second and third, 26-28, 13-25, won the fourth, 25-22, and fell in the decider, 10-15.

AU hit .152 in the match, ultimately being outdone by the .190 of the Panthers (11-14, 7-7).

Freshman setter Kali Apelt led the match with a career-high 56 assists, and Shelby Woycik had a team-high 19 kills.

The Eagles currently hold the second wild card spot in the GLIAC Tournament with one match to play. They hold a half-game lead over Northwood (6-8 GLIAC). 

Next up for AU is a home match against non-conference opponent Findlay on Tuesday (Nov. 7) at 7 p.m.
