AU outside hitter Alli Cudworth has been selected as the 2013 GLIAC volleyball freshman of the year. The award was announced at Grand Valley State where the conference Final Four is being held.
Cudworth and her teammate, fellow freshman Casey Clark, were named to the GLIAC First Team. It is extremely rare for two freshmen from the same team to be named first team All-GLIAC. Since 2008, no other GLIAC team can make that claim.
Cudworth is third in the GLIAC in kills (401) and kills per set (3.78). She has been named the GLIAC South Division player of the week three times. She is the second AU player to receive the GLIAC freshman of the year award. Brittany Snider was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2009.
Clark, another outside hitter, has been recognized as the GLIAC South Divsion player of the week twice. She is 18th in the conference in kills (277) and 20th in kills per set (2.66).
DeHenning is the GLIAC leader in assists per set (10.92). She has 1,155 assists. She's third on the team in blocks (65).
Zegarac is second in the GLIAC in digs (515). She was a second team all-conference pick a year ago.
Ashland is 24-6 and will play Northern Michigan on Saturday night (Nov. 23) in the GLIAC semifinals.
