Eagles Drop Home Match Against No. 4 GVSU
Ashland University women's soccer has faced No. 4-ranked Grand Valley State twice this season and left both matches with a similar result.
The Eagles (6-4-1, 3-1 GLIAC) lost to the Lakers (9-2, 4-0) 3-0 on Sept. 15 in Allendale, Mich. and 7-0 on Friday (Oct. 6) in Ashland.
Grand Valley scored five of its seven goals in the first half and took 25 shots throughout the game. The Eagles had three shots but did not force Lakers junior goalkeeper Jennifer Steinaway to make a save.
Sophomore Bridget McEldowney led the Eagles with two shots on the night.
GVSU senior Gabriella Mencotti, the 2016 Division II Conference Commissioners Association National Player of the Year, scored four goals on Friday.
Ashland falls into a tie for second place in the conference with Ferris State. The Bulldogs and Eagles play at Ferguson Field on Sunday at noon.
