Eagles Sit Third After Day 1 Of GLIAC Championships


The top of the leaderboard looks familiar at the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships after Day 1 on Friday (April 24).

The Ashland University women's golf team finds itself in a fight for the top spot with familiar foes, the Findlay Oilers and the Grand Valley State Lakers. Grand Valley State (307) currently has a five-stroke lead over the second-place Oilers (312). The Eagles only sit only four strokes back of Findlay after shooting a 316 on Day 1.

Sophomore Emily Jereb recorded the Eagles' best round on Friday when she clubbed a 78 and sits eighth overall. Both junior Ali Green and senior Abby Tepe carded 79s and are tied for ninth individually.

Sophomore Kaitlin Neumann scored an 80, and senior Madison Musick shot an 81.

The Eagles will return for Day 2 of the GLIAC Championships on Saturday (April 25) at the Findlay Country Club. The round will get underway at 12:00 p.m.
