Johnson Earns Spot On D2CCA All-America Third Team


For the second season in a row, Ashland University junior guard/forward Jodi Johnson is a Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American.

As released by the D2CCA on Monday (March 25) afternoon, Johnson earned a spot on the 2018-19 All-America third team. In 30 games (all starts) this season, Johnson averaged 18.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals in 33.8 minutes per game, and shot 57.8 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from 3-point range and 87.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Johnson ranked second in scoring, minutes per game, field-goal percentage, free-throw percentage, and steals per game, and ninth in rebounding. 

Johnson scored in double figures in 25 of 30 games this past season, and reached the 20-point mark in 14 contests.

The D2CCA All-America honor is the latest for Johnson this academic year, adding to a list that includes third-team Google Cloud D-II Academic All-America, first-team D2CCA all-region, All-GLIAC Tournament team, All-GLIAC first team, All-GLIAC Defensive team, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) academic all-district and five GLIAC South Division Player of the Week awards.

Heading into her senior season, Johnson is fifth on Ashand's all-time scoring list (1,675 points), fourth in career scoring average (16.1 ppg.), second in free throws made (431), third in field-goal percentage (56.9), first in 3-point field-goal percentage (45.8), first in free-throw percentage (85.2), seventh in assists (359), and third in steals (304).

Johnson helped Ashland to a 29-3 record overall and an 18-2 mark in the GLIAC in 2018-19, as well as the Eagles' fourth consecutive GLIAC Tournament championship and fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Division II postseason.
