Eagle Men, Women Compete At Akron Invitational


Ashland University's men's and women's indoor track and field teams started the month of February at the Akron Invitational.

On Saturday (Feb. 3), freshman Kainnan Ramsey, seeing his first action as a collegian, won the men's 200-meter dash Blue division in 21.85 seconds for the No. 3-ranked Eagles.

Freshman David Amstutz was second in the men's weight throw Blue division (16.95 meters), while junior Jacob Bon was the runner-up in the men's high jump Blue division (1.95 meters/6-feet-4¾).

Junior Tiffany Pryce finished third in the women's 800 run Blue division (2:19.87).

On Thursday (Feb. 1) in the men's discus throw Gold division, sophomore Alex Hill was the top Eagle placer, taking second with a top mark of 53.17 meters/174-feet-5.

WINDLE ONE OF USA'S ALL-TIME BEST: On Saturday at the Millrose Games in New York, former Ashland All-American Drew Windle placed third in the men's 800 run in 1:45.53 – moving into the No. 3 spot indoors in American history in the event.

Windle won eight NCAA Division II national titles and was a 15-time All-American at Ashland.

UP NEXT: Friday (Feb. 9) at the Grand Valley State Big Meet and Saturday (Feb. 10) at the Tiffin Dragon Grand Prix.
