Eagle Throwers Add To, Improve On Provisional Rolls

On Day 1 of the All-Ohio Track & Field Championships at Miami University on Friday (April 10), Ashland University men's and women's hammer throwers both increased and improved upon the program's provisional national-qualifying marks.

In the women's hammer, senior Jessica Bridenthal won the event with a top mark of 58.62 meters/192-feet-4, improving on her previous provisional mark. Senior Shatora Lewis placed sixth with a provisional mark of 53.05 meters/174-feet-0, while sophomore Megan Tomei improved on her previous provisional effort in an eighth-place showing (52.79 meters/173-feet-2).

The men's hammer saw Eagles take places 2-5. Sophomore Jordan Crayon earned a new provisional distance while finishing second (63.08 meters/206-feet-11), and senior Jared Conklin (62.60 meters/205-feet-4), senior Mack Taylor (61.49 meters/201-feet-9) and freshman Clayton Jury (58.90 meters/193-feet-3) all improved on previous provisional efforts.

Also on Friday, senior Isaac Potes placed third in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:32.67) and sophomore William Cutler took third in the men's 10,000-meter run.

Through five scored events in Oxford, the AU women are tied for second in the 12-team field. The Eagle men are second in the 10-team field after six scored events.

The AU men and women will continue action at the All-Ohio meet on Saturday (April 11).
