Ashland University freshman Amar Sapcanin was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic conference on Tuesday (Nov. 26).
Sapacanin won his first career GLIAC Swimmer of the Week honor coming off a strong performance for the Eagles at the Oberlin Invitational. Sapcanin won the 100-yard breaststroke (56.88) on the second day at Oberlin, and the 200 breaststroke (2:00.94) on Day 3, as he helped lead Ashland to a second-place overall finish.
Sapcanin has been an important contributor for AU all season. He earned four second-place finishes (200 medley relay, 200 breaststroke, 200 fly and 50 breaststroke) at the Malone Invite on Nov. 16, helping the Eagles finish first overall.
