Women's Relay Hits NCAA Cut

            The Ashland University swimming and diving team got the 2012 GLIAC Championships started on a positive note as the women's 200 medley relay qualified for nationals Wednesday (Feb. 8).  Wednesday was the opening night of the four-day championships. This year's meet is being held in Jenison, Mich.

            The women's medley relay finished second in 1:43.01.  First place went to Wayne State. The Warriors completed the race in 1:42.59. The Ashland quartet included sophomore Sara Reidler (Gahanna, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln), senior Maura Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio), junior Rachael Ausdenmoore (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) and junior Julie Widmann (Littleton, Colo./Heritage).

            The AU men recorded a third place finish in the 200 medley.  The Eagles clocked in at 1:30.17.  That is a "B" cut for nationals.  Swimming for Ashland were junior Mauricio Uranga (Chihuahua, Mexico/La Salle Chihuahua), junior Cheyne Fisher (Durban, South Africa/Westville), junior Tyler Remmel (Hubertus, Wis./Hertford Union) and sophomore Jacob Miller (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard-Davidson).
