As announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday (June 6) afternoon, Ashland University junior first baseman Kylie Asmus has earned a spot on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Softball second team.
In her second season as a starter in 2018 after transferring from Ohio Northern, Asmus hit .362 with 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, a triple, four home runs, 25 RBIs, an on-base percentage of .393 and a slugging percentage of .519. She had a 15-game hitting streak from March 25-April 21. Defensively, Asmus recorded a fielding percentage of .992 in 258 total chances.
In two full academic years at Ashland, Asmus has a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point average as an Exercise Science major.
Asmus becomes the eighth Academic All-American in Ashland University softball history. Earlier this spring, Asmus was named to the NCAA Division II Google Cloud Academic All-District team, and garnered a spot on the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second team.
