Ashland University senior outfielder Taylor Menhart is one of 50 players on the watch list for the inaugural Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II National Player of the Year award.
In 2014, Menhart was named first-team NFCA All-Midwest Region, first-team Daktronics All-Midwest Region and first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after hitting .419 with 17 doubles, three homers, 23 RBIs and eight stolen bases. Her batting average was third-highest in the GLIAC last spring, and she tied for the conference lead in doubles.
The Top 25 finalists for the 2015 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year award will be announced on April 8. While an athlete does not have to be on watch list to be considered for the Top 25, the winner will come from the 25 finalists. The Top 10 finalists will be announced on April 30 and the Top 3 on May 13 or 14, with the 2015 Division II National Player of the Year revealed on May 26.
