The Ashland University men's soccer team fell behind 2-0 early in the second half and Purdue Northwest held off the visiting Eagles, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon in GLIAC action in Hammond, Ind.
The Pride (2-2-1, 1-1 GLIAC) took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute on a goal by Enrique Serna off.a pass by Isaiah Nieves. Purdue Northwest had a 4-2 edge in shots in the first half.
The Pride took that 1-0 lead into halftime. Eight minutes after the break, Djordje Carcenevic converted from the penalty spot to double the host's lead.
Ashland struck four shots in the second half overall, but could not find the equalizer to extend the game.
PNW had a 10-6 edge in shots and the teams were even with five corner kicks apiece.
Freshman Dimitrius Karousos made four saves in the game.
The Eagles return to the field Wednesday (Sept. 22) at 2:30 with a non conference game at Slippery Rock.
