Ashland University junior right-hander Chance Hitchcock was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week the league office announced on Tuesday (Feb. 26) afternoon.
This is Hitchcock's second career weekly conference honor after he won the award on March 12, 2018.
Hitchcock tossed six innings and gave up just one run in Ashland's season-opening 5-2 win over Rockhurst on Sunday (Feb. 24). He gave up three hits and struck out five and threw 52 of his 87 pitches for strikes.
Hitchcock was an All-GLIAC honorable mention selection last season after going 6-5 with a 4.50 ERA.
The Eagles are off to a 3-0 start this season heading into their annual spring break Florida trip from March 2-10 when they will play nine games in nine days.
