Women’s Tennis Wins, Men Lose At Lawrence Tech

On Saturday (Feb. 28) in Michigan, Ashland University's tennis teams split at Lawrence Tech – the women winning 4-3, and the men losing by the same score.
 
The Eagle women are 1-6 in 2025-26, and the AU men are 3-5.
 
In the Ashland women's first win of the season, senior Constanza Arancibia teamed up with fellow senior Ana Penteado to win at first doubles, 6-1, then won herself at first singles, 6-2, 7-6. The Eagles clinched the doubles point at No. 2, as senior Anna Corbel and junior Evalienna Pryor prevailed, 6-4, and at No. 3, as sophomore Maria Jemio and junior Brittany Witsken took a 6-4 decision.
 
Singles wins also were earned by Pryor at No. 5 (6-1, 2-6, 6-2), and Witsken at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1).
 
The Eagle men's three wins all came at singles - sophomore Bernardo Duarte at No. 1 (6-3, 1-6, 6-2), junior Doug Cree at No. 4, and senior Gabriel Seminario at No. 6 (7-6, 6-2).
 
COMING UP
Both Eagle teams will travel to Pikeville, Ky., to take on Pikeville and King (Tenn.) on Saturday (March 7).
