No. 10 Eagles Pull Away From Roughnecks For G-MAC Win

The No. 10-ranked Ashland University wrestling team had to wait eight days due to weather to get back on the mat following its 2026 Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship, but that return resulted in a 27-18 win at Findlay on Sunday (Feb. 8) afternoon.
 
Ashland (6-7 overall, 4-1 Great Midwest) prevailed over the Roughnecks in a dual in which there were six lead changes.
 
Down 18-15 going into the last three bouts, the Eagles ran the table – redshirt freshman Fletcher Rose earning a 14-5 major decision over Chase Stein at 184 pounds, No. 6-ranked 197-pounder Peyton Lemon taking a 20-4 technical fall from Ronnie Thomas, and No. 7-ranked 285-pounder Wyatt Bailey winning 8-5 over Giulian Bodiu.
 
Ashland's victories also came from junior 125-pounder Luke Acuna by forfeit, No. 4-ranked junior 149-pounder Hayden Kuhn by pin over Wil Pask in 2:44, and senior 165-pounder Nate Barrett by a 4-2 decision over Gary Nilson.
