The Great Midwest Athletic Conference released its latest set of Athletes of the Week on Monday (Sept. 22) afternoon, and Ashland University senior forward
Dani Hicks (women's soccer) and sophomore
Mark Pillar (men's golf) were among the honorees.
Hicks posted four goals and three assists for 11 points in 7-0 wins at Ferguson Field vs. Tiffin on Thursday (Sept. 18) and vs. Ursuline on Saturday (Sept. 20). She had four goals and two assists against the Dragons, and added an assist vs. the Arrows.
So far in 2025, Hicks has team-highs of seven goals and 17 points, and is tied for the team lead with three assists. Through Sunday (Sept. 21), she is tied for second in NCAA Division II in points, and tied for the second-most goals in the country.
No. 21 Ashland (4-2 overall, 2-0 Great Midwest) will go to Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday (Sept. 24) at 7:30 p.m. to take on Ohio Dominican (0-4-2, 0-1-1).
Pillar earned his first collegiate individual medalist honor on Tuesday (Sept. 16) at Ferris State's Midwest/Central Regional Preview Tournament, outlasting Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen on the second playoff hole. He ended regulation at 74-67-71—212 to force the playoff, and had an eagle and 11 birdies for the tournament.
Ashland men's golf's next action will be on Sept. 29-30 at Miami University's Virtues Intercollegiate.
