Rachel Richeson's first throw was her best throw – putting her on Team USA in the women's hammer throw for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in September in Tokyo, Japan.
Richeson, 25, finished third on Thursday in the women's hammer throw at 74.57 meters/244-feet-8. The former Notre Dame standout will be joined at outdoor worlds in the event for Team USA by DeAnna Price (first, 78.53 meters/257-feet-7) and Brooke Andersen (second, 75.14 meters/246-feet-6).
Outdoor worlds will be Sept. 13-21 in Tokyo.
On Saturday (Aug. 2) at 4:41 p.m. Eastern, former NCAA Division II national champion
Trevor Bassitt will start his road toward a potential outdoor worlds spot in the men's 400-meter hurdles first round. The finals are Sunday (Aug. 3) at 4:43 p.m. Eastern.

Katie Moon will compete in the women's pole vault on Sunday at 3 p.m. East.
