No. 21 Eagles Rally To Beat No. 14 Golden Knights On The Road

In come-from-behind fashion, the No. 21 Ashland University wrestling team topped No. 14 Gannon on Sunday (Feb. 9) afternoon, 26-18, in Erie, Pa..
 
The Eagles are 11-2 in duals in 2024-25, with seven wins coming against Top 25 teams in NCAA Division II. The Golden Knights are 8-6.
 
Sophomore 125-pounder Luke Acuna started the dual with a pin in 4:15 over Logan Sallot, moving the 13^th-ranked grappler in D-II to 23-8. Gannon, however, won the next three matches to go ahead 14-6.
 
Ashland went on to win five of the final six matches:

• At 157 pounds, junior Evan Davis (4-4) earned a 3-2 decision over Ethan Richner.
• No. 5-ranked junior Nate Barrett (24-9) knocked off Nicholas Coreno at 165 pounds, 7-4.
• No. 14 sophomore Peyton Lemon (23-8) pinned Gaetano Savelli in 4:03 at 184 pounds to knot the dual at 18.
• Senior Kaine Morris (23-9), No. 9-ranked at 197 pounds, decisioned Eli Reese, 8-2, to give the Eagles a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
• Junior Wyatt Bailey (16-9) recorded a 22-2 technical fall over Shane Davidson to ice the victory.
