Ashland University's No. 21-ranked wrestling team finished action at the 46th Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., on Sunday (Dec. 14), ending in ninth place as a team.

The team finish is the Eagles' best at the Midwest Classic since 2019, when they also took ninth. Ashland had 86.5 team points. Parkside won with 150, followed by Pitt-Johnstown (132) and Central Oklahoma (113).

No. 6-ranked 149-pound junior
Hayden Kuhn took second place at after going 5-1 over the weekend, recording two pins, a technical fall and two decisions. Kuhn lost in the championship match by pin to No. 3-ranked Jalen Spuhler of Parkside.

Also finishing second at his weight class was No. 10-ranked senior 174-pounder
Sevriano Garza. He lost 4-1 to No. 5-ranked Josh Kenny of Grand Valley State in the title match, and ended the weekend at 4-1 – all four victories being decisions.

At 197 pounds, No. 15-ranked junior
Peyton Lemon finished the weekend in fifth and with a 6-2 record – having earned a major decision, a win by medical forfeit and four decisions. Lemon took fifth after the medical forfeit prior to the fifth-place match.

Wyatt Bailey finished sixth at 285 pounds, ending the weekend at 5-3 with three pins, a tech fall and a decision.

Also competing on Day 2 on Sunday were No. 11-ranked junior
Luke Acuna at 125 pounds (4-2 with a pin and three decisions on the weekend), and No. 10-ranked redshirt freshman 184-pounder
Fletcher Rose (2-2 with a major decision and decision on the weekend).
