No. 21 Eagles Lose At Home To No. 9 Tiffin

In its first action since winning the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship, the No. 21-ranked Ashland University wrestling team lost 23-21 to No. 9 Tiffin on Friday (Jan. 31) night at Kates Gymnasium.
 
The Eagles are 8-2 in duals this season, and the Dragons are 5-4.
 
Trailing 11-0, 20-10 and 23-13, Ashland kept coming back throughout the night.
 
At 141 pounds, No. 15-ranked freshman Brock Durbin (22-13) earned the Eagles' first win of the night, a pin in 37 seconds against Chris Oleksiak. Then, at 149, sophomore Hayden Kuhn (23-5) topped Bret Minnick in an 11-2 major decision to cut AU's deficit to 11-10.
 
No. 9-ranked junior Sevriano Garza (22-2) decisioned Jakob Hurley, 8-2, at 174 pounds; sophomore 197-pounder Peyton Lemon (22-7), ranked No. 14 at 184 pounds, technical falled Dean Hetrick, 19-4; and at 285 pounds, junior Wyatt Bailey (14-9) defeated Jake Powell, 3-1.
